The market is hot and the Lowcountry continues to be in high-demand for potential buyers!  If you’ve been considering selling your home in the next year, or two, it’s time to seriously consider selling now!

Here are four main reasons why you should take advantage of the market and list your Lowcountry home as soon as possible:

·        Buyers are incredibly motivated due to historically low-interest rates.

While interest rates continued to decline throughout the last year, potential buyers became increasingly interested in taking advantage of them.  Throughout the pandemic, and the rest of 2021, these rates are expected to remain steady at about 3.125%, which is the average rate for a 30-year fixed mortgage today.  As long as the interest rates for mortgages remain low, purchasing a new home, especially for first-time buyers looking for starter homes and those looking for vacation homes will continue to be appealing for potential buyers.

Inventory, especially in high-demand areas such as the Lowcountry, remains low, while the demand for real estate remains high. 

Despite the increase in new construction, inventory for existing homes on the market remains very low.  While this continues to remain the case, it will continue to result in continuous bidding wars and multiple offers for sellers to choose from.  The Lowcountry continues to exude the charm, weather, and friendly environment that many home buyers are looking for while still offering great schools, dining and shopping options, and entertainment galore.

While the demand for starter homes is expected to continue throughout the year, with little inventory, the market for larger homes is actually quite good.  This is largely due to the increasing opportunity for new construction, which typically isn’t utilized for entry-level homes.   While one person’s concept of a starter home might vary from the next person, one fact remains: if you consider your current home a starter house, there has never been a better time to put it on the market.  If you’re hoping to sell your entry-level home for a record high price, and gain even more equity for a new home, now is the time!

 

·        It’s the perfect market if you’re hoping to put minimal effort into getting your home ready for listing. 

A rare, yet appreciated aspect of the market for sellers, is the fact that buyers have lessened their needs and wants when looking for a new home.  At least for now, gone are the times of needing to update your kitchen or invest in updating your floors.  So, if you’re looking for an opportunity to list your home with very little effort, you might not get your chance again! This doesn't mean that you shouldn't make all necessary repairs and give your home a nice clean update with paint, fixtures, etc.  Putting your best foot forward when selling your home will always garner the highest price.
