Enjoy a Lowcountry St. Patrick's Day!!
St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and many places are beginning their celebrations around the Lowcountry this weekend! It’s been a long winter due to the pandemic and St. Patrick’s Day just might be the perfect opportunity to get out and, safely, celebrate with those in the community!
Here are the big St. Patrick’s Day events in the area, as well as a list of the best Irish pubs:
Hilton Head Ireland St. Pat's Boat Parade – Last year, one of the most popular annual parades on Hilton Head had to be canceled altogether but, this year, they’re getting creative! So, this Saturday, the 13th at 10:00 am, throw on your favorite green, get your boat decorated and celebrate St. Patrick’s Day on the water as the parade floats along the Calibogue Sound. The parade will be starting near the entrance to Broad Creek and will float towards Shelter Cove. To ensure everyone’s safety, the Coast Guard, BCSO, and the DNR will all be on hand.
26th Annual Hilton Head Island Shamrock 5K Run & Health Walk – This flat and fast run/walk will take place on Saturday the 13th and is both family and pet-friendly! The race starts at 8:00 am sharp and will begin in front of New York City Pizza on Pope Avenue. Runners will then travel along North Forest Beach Drive and Lagoon Road and finish inside Coligny Plaza. Awards will be given to the top three finishers in each participating category and everyone who finishes will also be given a finisher prize!
Reilley's Grill & Bar – The St. Patrick’s Day festivities at Reilley’s start this weekend, as the official after-party for the Hilton Head St. Patrick’s Day Boat Parade, and will go through the holiday itself! Enjoy the best live music and Irish cuisine that Hilton Head has to offer while celebrating all weekend long!
· Saturday, March 14th – Enjoy live music from Boston Police Pipes & Drums Gaelic Column (following the boat parade).
· Sunday, March 15th – The live music begins again at 4:15 with Devri Boston’s Irish Band.
· Wednesday, March 17th – Enjoy the best of St. Patrick’s Day with those you enjoy most while listening to music from Single Husbands, beginning at 3:00 pm!
Katie O'Donalds – Katie O’Donalds in Bluffton is everything you’d hope for in a neighborhood Irish pub! Enjoy a relaxing St. Patrick’s Day at this family-owned pub (they’ve been known to have bagpipes throughout the day!) and get the best of both worlds – fresh Lowcountry seafood and authentic Irish fare!
Kelly's Tavern – Kelly’s in Bluffton boasts the best Reuban in the Lowcountry and will be sure to please everyone in the family. Known for their comfortable and charming small-town atmosphere, you’ll be sure to enjoy a momentous St. Patrick’s Day with a wonderful combination of friends and friendly faces from out of town!
Rosie O'Gradys – The go-to Irish pub in Beaufort! Enjoy a festive St. Patrick’s Day with the largest selection of beer in town! The perfect spot for those who want more than the traditional Guinness.
Reilley's North End Pub – Last but certainly not least! Reilley’s North End Pub has been the premier Irish pub in the Lowcountry for nearly 40 years and it’s no wonder why. They offer both fine dinings as well as traditional Irish dishes and St. Patrick’s Day will be no exception! This family-owned, local treasure, promises to provide wonderful memories on both St. Patrick’s Day and every other day of the year!
Whether you’re looking to venture somewhere new, or you’re planning on spending the day at your favorite local spot, enjoy your St. Patrick’s Day at one of the treasured Irish pubs in the Lowcountry!
