Get Out and Enjoy These Beautiful Hiking Trails in Beaufort County
With the COVID-19 restrictions sweeping the country, it will no doubt be necessary to shelter in place soon here in Beaufort County. But there's no need to get cabin fever, as there are plenty of ways to pass the time outside in our beautiful seaside community without being near other people (provided that is allowed by the authorities). One good way to enjoy the scenery of the Beaufort area is through our local trails systems. You can explore the endless variety of flora and fauna of the area, all while getting some good exercise while walking or bike riding.
Here are some of the best trails in Beaufort County just waiting for you to explore.
New River Linear Trail
3809-3835 Okatie Hwy, Bluffton, SC 29910
Set in an historic area, this flat trail runs next to a railroad bed & is used for hiking & biking. Along the trail you will find posts of information of the area from the past. It's a flat trail, so it's an easy hike for any skill level.
Cypress Wetlands
1700 Paris Ave, Port Royal, SC 29935
At The Lower Cypress Wetlands in Port Royal, venture down the boardwalk for a look at a cypress swamp.
Sea Pines Forest Preserve
Hilton Head Island, SC 29928
This protected nature area has walking paths, and an archaeological site made of seashells. View marshes and wildlife from a boardwalk at Old Lawton Rice Field and explore a secluded forest on the boardwalk through the Vanishing Swamp.
Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge
The Pinckney Island National Wildlife Refuge is a 4,053-acre National Wildlife Refuge located in Beaufort County, South Carolina between the mainland and Hilton Head Island. It's a beautiful place to take your family for a bike ride or just an evening stroll!"
