Henry C Chambers Waterfront Park is a true Gem of the Beaufort Area!
In the heart of historic downtown Beaufort lies Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park, a 2-mile oasis along the water that is full of breathtaking scenery and endless opportunity for fun for all ages. Whether you have visited once while in Beaufort on vacation or you bring your family every week, it only takes moments to see why this park has become the crown jewel of Beaufort! From local eateries, incredible views, ideal terrain, and accessibility for both your children and your pets, there are countless reasons to take advantage of this Lowcountry oasis!
The Waterfront
The park lies along the vast Beaufort River, with a seawall that expands multiple city blocks, allowing guests to get close to the water and enjoy the views of the inter-coastal waterways and everything that comes along with it. If you’re looking for a peaceful way to take in the beauty of the waterfront, grab some coffee and take a morning stroll along the pier or enjoy a sunrise walk along the seawall for breathtaking views that just can’t be beaten. Waterfront Park also offers prime opportunities for fishing! There are a variety of fish within the river, both fresh and saltwater and fishing is permitted anywhere along the seawall!
Utilizing the park space
While the waterfront is certainly the main attraction within Waterfront Park, the park itself has so much more to offer. For starters, it is the perfect spot in the Lowcountry to enjoy a picnic with your loved ones. Also, dogs are permitted, so it’s truly a place that the whole family can enjoy together! The green space is vast, allowing for ample opportunities to play catch, a pickup game of football, or even yard games brought from home. And when the kids are in desperate need to burn off some energy, they’ll love the brand-new boat-themed playground, which was built to be inclusive for children of all abilities.
“Restaurant Row”
Enjoy a meal with a view at one of the several different eateries along the waterfront! From traditional Lowcountry fare to go-to ice cream spots, you’ll enjoy eating with the most beautiful view. The restaurant area is a popular stop for both locals and visitors, also making it the perfect location for people watching!
Take in an annual festival
It’s no secret to those who live within the Lowcountry that Waterfront Park is also home to many annual festivals! Taste of Beaufort, the Original Gullah Festival, and the always anticipated Beaufort Water Festival. If you’ve yet to attend any of these annual festivals, mark your calendars, and experience Waterfront Park in a way like never before!
Exercise with a view
Since Waterfront Park was established, it has been the most popular destination for runners and walkers, alike, in Beaufort. Between the seawall and the pedestrian-friendly Woods Memorial Bridge, the paved pathways offer miles of scenic views of the water, beautiful greenery and palmetto trees, and gorgeous blooms throughout the park. The flat paths and lack of elevation also make it an ideal exercise location for an adventurous walk with the dog.
Beaufort has long had many attractions to offer its residents and visitors, alike, and none are more beautiful or more full of possibility than Waterfront Park. It’s truly an outdoor oasis and entertainment destination, allowing for families and individuals to get outside and enjoy the beauty that is the heart of the Lowcountry!
