Let’s Visit the Best Wineries around the Lowcountry!
Lowcountry Wineries offer the best in Southern grace and style with tours, tastings, gift shops, and beautiful grounds. Each offers a wonderful selection of wines grown from premium grapes in rich vineyard soils of the Lowcountry and around the world. You may need to take a short day trip for a visit, but for the wine lovers, it’ll be worth the time!
I’ve selected three of our favorites that I’m sure you’re going to love. Enjoy!
Island Winery, located on Hilton Head Island, is owned by winemakers Loren & Georgene Mortimer. Growing up in a large Italian family, for Georgene, winemaking was a way of life and spending family time together. She’s carried that love and art on with her husband at the Island Winery. Their wines are hand-crafted in small batches from fresh grapes from the finest regions all over the world. From Italian style Sangiovese, Old Vine Zinfandel, Vintners Reserve, Chardonnay to their Lowcountry Specialty wines made from southern grown fruits…there’s a wine for every discerning palate. They also offer live music on their patio every Friday in the spring from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. What a way to relax and start the weekend.
Butterducks Winery. Come out to the “Duck Blind” or Pergola to enjoy a peaceful setting and wine flight while chatting with family and friends. The Duck Blind is a wonderful, covered patio overlooking the beautiful landscape at Butterducks Winery. Experience an assortment of incredible award-winning wines white, red, and blush, Reserve, Riesling, and dessert wines. The selection is endless and the wines are superb. You may even be greeted by Brodie…the Wine Dog!
Deep Water Vineyard. Nestled on Wadmalaw Island among majestic Oaks is the 48-acre is this amazing winery and vineyard! The grapes are grown, harvested and wine made and bottled on site. Visiting here you’ll want to allow yourself several hours to meander the grounds, stroll the vineyards, enjoy the informative and delicious wine tastings. Offering unique wines and blends with muscadine grapes, they’ve mastered the art of infusing interesting flavors and combinations that tantalize and tease the tastebuds and leave you wanting more. Looking to hold a private tasting, party, or corporate event? Just give them a call.
As promised, there is more to come in our Beaufort community series. We’ll be exploring more venues, events, and activities for you to enjoy in the Lowcountry communities throughout the spring and summer months!
