The 5 Best Parks for Kids Play in Beaufort!
The weather is warming up and the kids are wanting to get out and burn off all that energy from being cooped up indoors during the colder months. Nothing is better than getting out and playing and exploring in our wonderful parks in Beaufort. While we have many that are highly recognizable, we also have some hidden gems. So, whether you’re looking for a great waterfront view, or a shady cozy hideaway, these kids’ parks won’t disappoint. Here are our top 5 favorites we highly recommend.
Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park- Probably the best known, and most cherished by kids of all ages, our downtown waterfront park has something for everyone. A great playground and bench swings for the kids, plenty of places for a stroll, grab a bite to eat, and get some yummy ice cream.
Coursen-Tate Memorial Park- This little gem is tucked away off Springfield Road on Lady’s Island and features a great playground with a shark tunnel (how cool is that!), and even has soccer and baseball fields. Pack a lunch and stay for the day. The park also has a great pavilion and picnic tables.
The Naval Heritage Park- Here’s a unique one for you. It has a Spanish galleon (which the kids just love), tire swings, playground and is home to the Beaufort Skate Park for the older kids. Located in Port Royal it’s a great place to visit after the local Farmer’s Market.
Washington Street Park- Nestled in a quiet historic neighborhood in downtown Beaufort, this lovely park had brand new playground equipment installed in March of 2021. Very family-friendly and great for small gatherings.
Burton Wells Park & Recreation Center- Located on Recreation Drive in Beaufort, this fantastic rec center boasts an array of activities for kids and adults alike. You’ll not only find a playground but also basketball courts, baseball, soccer & football fields, a fitness center, pond with dock and walking trails and even a park for your dogs!! The ultimate park DOES exist and it’s right here.
We are truly blessed with the incredible parks and recreation available to us in the Beaufort area.
