Here are some of the best public courses in Beaufort County:

The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island – Beaufort

The beauty alone makes golfing at the Legends Golf Course a one-of-a-kind experience.  Winding along the iconic salt marsh wetlands and deep-water creeks, you will feel nothing but pure Lowcountry nature when golfing this par-72 course.

Oyster Reef Golf Club – Hilton Head

A staple and a local favorite for the better part of 40 years, what makes the Oyster Reef Golf Club stand out among the rest is the 190 acres of terrain that makes living on Hilton Head, and the rest of the Lowcountry, special.  The 18-hole championship course is more than just scenic views, though.  It’s also widely known for its spectacular Par 3, hole #6, which is set against the backdrop of the breathtaking Port Royal Sound.

Shipyard Golf Club – Hilton Head

Boasting the beautiful wooded areas of Hilton Head, Shipyard Golf Club is a perfect destination for all of the golfers in the family.  Enjoy a round of up to 27 holes while surrounding yourself among the moss-draped oaks, the grand Carolina pines, and the beautifully flowering magnolias.  When you’re done with your round, take in all that Shipyard has to offer at one of their many family-friendly events!

The Golf Club at Hilton Head Lakes – Hilton Head

This challenging course is over 250-acres of difficulty throughout the varied wetlands and lakes.  Designed with both masterful angled greens and contoured fairways, regardless of if you’ve golfed at Hilton Head lakes for one day, or ten years, you will experience something different in your game each time.  Golfers are also encouraged to take advantage of their learning center, driving range, and short-game practice area.

Hilton Head National – Bluffton

The course that arguably put golf in Bluffton on the map and it’s no secret why!  Hilton Head National sits just a mile from the bridge to take out over to Hilton Head so the location is ideal for every golfer!  It’s the perfect course for a quick round of golf with both the back and front nine offering something different for its golfers.

Eagle's Pointe Golf Club – Bluffton

The sister course to the popular Crescent Pointe, what makes Eagle’s Pointe unique in the Lowcountry are the rare, wide fairways.  You won’t have to worry about losing too many of your balls on this course!  A wonderful course for those looking to golf both for challenges but also pure enjoyment, as the course is perfectly designed to match a variety of skill levels.  You also can’t go wrong with the meticulously kept greens and the extraordinary customer service.

The May River's Favorite Golf Course at Palmetto Bluff – Bluffton

Caddies are required at this breathtaking course, designed by Jack Nicklaus, which sits along the banks of the May River.  To truly take in the beauty of the 7,171-yard course, golfers are encouraged to walk.  If you’re looking for a weekend spring getaway, book a stay at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff and golf all weekend long.

Old South Golf Links – Bluffton

This course is perfect for golfers of most experience levels and the beauty and charm of the course will guarantee a perfect day, regardless of how well you do!  Completed in 1991, the 6,772-yard course sits along the Intracoastal marshes of McKay’s Creek.

Crescent Pointe Golf Club – Bluffton

The only Arnold Palmer course in Bluffton offers the best of both worlds: beauty and difficulty.  The 16-hole course sits along the banks of the Colleton River and the sunsets are so breathtaking, you’ll have to see them to believe it.  An ideal course to play over and over again due to its challenging greens that you will never get bored of.  And every hole has more beauty than the last!

The Courses at Sea Pines Resort – Hilton Head

The three courses at Sea Pines resort are often considered come of the “must play” courses along the entire southeast.  Between the picturesque Lowcountry landscapes, the exclusive events (including the South Carolina’s only PGA Tour event), and the can’t-be-beat amenities, it’s no wonder the courses at Sea Pines are considered the king of all Hilton Head golf.

Olde Beaufort Golf Club – Beaufort

Another traditional Lowcountry course that will leave you feeling nostalgia for all things Beaufort.  A pleasure for golfers at every skill level, the 18-hole course provides both charm and challenge as you work your way through the 7,200 yards of greenery.  Come for the golf, stay for the company and sunsets!

Enjoy the beginning months of spring and get out in the Lowcountry!
