What Home Design Trends are HOT right now?

Whether you are looking to update your current home, or in search of a new home to handle the needs of your growing family, no doubt home design trends will come into play. Home design trends do tend to change frequently so it’s important to always choose wisely, while also having some fun incorporating ones that fit your personality décor. Many of the ones you’ll see here are classic, but also bold in choice and also keeping in mind the supply chain issues facing designers and builders today.

So, let’s check out what the designers are choosing right now, and you decide what may work best for you.

Color!  YES!  I think we all may welcome this change as it may finally be time to say good-bye to the longstanding white and gray tones from the past couple years. Today designers are opting for bold color choices. Whether a full room of color, or an accent wall, adding color is the way to go. Think bold, deeper blues, greens, corals, and more.  Have fun and add a depth to rooms and warmth that has really been missing from the last two years! Color, vibrance, depth and texture are where it is at!

Warm Kitchens. Even though color cabinets are still hot, warm wood and neutral kitchens are a classic design that still reign supreme. It’s also great for resale of a home as it leaves the new homeowner will a cleaner slate to create their own personality in the room.

Wallpaper.  Don’t start flashbacks to the 60s and 70s? We’re not talking about that type of wallpaper! We’re talking textured, detailed, and luxurious designs that make a statement in any room. Wallpaper today doesn’t entail the chaotic mess of decades past…and it really adds an entirely new and exciting element to any room. There’s even ceiling wallpaper! No kidding.

Natural Materials. While natural materials never go out of style, wood, stone countertops and stone tiles are really taking center stage.  Replacing the once favorites of quartz, porcelain, and marble. Natural materials are much more life-like and authentic, warm, and welcoming while adding a certain aesthetic and beauty to a home.

Green Cabinets. Like it or not, green cabinets in a variety of shades are HOT for kitchens and baths. This earthly tone creates a cool vibe and is showing up in everything from bold dark hues to pale tones. It is and has been the color of the moment for a couple of years with really no end in sight.

Texture. One dimensional rooms are definitely in the past. You need to layer your design elements to give your rooms visual appeal. Think wood, rattan, pottery, metals all mixed with different fabric patterns to create a visual feast for the eyes.

Is your current home suiting the needs for your family today? If not, it may be a great time to list to the market and find a new one that has the space and amenities your family needs for the future.
