Spring has sprung in the Lowcountry! And there's no better way to appreciate our new season than to get out in the lovely spring air and enjoy the splendid scenery of our amazing local trails and parks. Here are 5 of the some of the best places to go for a walk or hike in the Lowcountry.
Beaufort County Crystal Lake Park
124 Ladys Island Dr, Beaufort, SC 29907
Crystal Lake Park is 25-acres of forested habitats, salt marsh, and a man-made pond located on Lady's Island. The pond has a population of redfish and mullet, which get trapped during extreme high tides. 0.5 mile loop trail, half is boardwalk and half is earthen, around the lake.
Westvine Dr Spanish Moss Trail
The Spanish Moss Trail (sometimes referred to as the Beaufort Rail Trail or the Magnolia Line Trail) follows the former Port Royal Railroad that was constructed in 1870.

St Patrick's Day is coming March 17th. And of course, that means a ton of fun down here on the beach! Whether you want to go for a run or just stand by and watch the Irish spectacle roll by in a classic parade, there's fun for the whole family down here in the Lowcountry this next week. We may not be dashing through the snow, but you will be treated to glorious displays of lights around the area, hot chocolate, seasonal entertainment, shopping, holiday movies, and more. It’s the Beaufort Holiday Weekend in Historic Downtown Beaufort.
A ‘Night on the Town’ begins December 2. Retail shops will stay open late while local choir groups will serenade, and dance groups and clubs will entertain all visitors. Don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs to stay for the double-feature holiday movies at Waterfront Park. This year’s features are all-time favorites: Dr. Suess’s The Grinch and ELF! Hot Chocolate and Popcorn will also be provided- YUM!
Late-night shopping will take place from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. with the Parris Island Marine Corps Rock Band performing their greatest holiday tunes and the BEST part of the night takes place at 8:00 p.m. with Santa doing the official Christmas Tree lighting!!

As the spookiest of holidays approaches, we’re finding it hard for the kids and adults to contain their excitement for the big day. It’s one of the largest and most anticipated festivals in Beaufort and the Lowcountry…the Beaufort Shrimp Festival! Held this weekend, Friday, October 7th, and Saturday, October 8th at the beautiful Henry C. Chamber Waterfront Park, the festival is celebrating its 28th year. Celebrating Lowcountry cuisine in all its glory. Several local restaurants will be vying for “Best of” trophies for their fabulous shrimp concoctions and will be located throughout the festival grounds. Don’t worry, for the sweet tooth’s out there, they’ll be decadent desserts for you too!!
You’ll also be treated to an exciting arts and crafts market and children’s activities. Plus amazing live music from Lauren Hall, Still Standing (an Elton John Tribute band), Broke Locals, The Parris Island Rock Band, Walker Dean, and Katie Lynn to close it all out!
